Subsection 10(1) provides that the “salary rate” applicable to a position may not be increased by more than 1 % for each 12 months of the “moderation period”.
Subsection 11(1) similarly restricts increases in “existing compensation” entitlements.
In respect of Faculty, article 11 of the collective agreement provides for a formula to consistently provide for the assignment of Teaching Contact Hours (TCH). If the formula is changed so as to reduce the number of TCHs that can be assigned to faculty without reducing salary, the “salary rate” per TCH will be increased. That increase counts toward the 1 % limit under Bill 124 for “salary rate” and “existing compensation” entitlements.
